Need dozens of QR codes for product labels, event badges, store WiFi cards, or marketing flyers? Creating them one by one is slow. The Freeqrify Batch QR generator reads an Excel or CSV file and builds every code in your browser. You can mix types in one file — URLs on some rows, WiFi on others, vCards on the rest — then download all images as a single ZIP.
When batch generation makes sense
- Product packaging — unique URL or SKU code per item
- Events & conferences — vCard QR on each attendee badge
- Retail & hospitality — WiFi QR codes for multiple rooms or tables
- Real estate — a listing link, a phone number, or a map pin on each yard sign. QR codes for real estate signs
- Storage — one code per bin so a scan opens the contents list. QR codes for storage bins
- Marketing campaigns — tracked landing pages or WhatsApp support lines
- Warehouse & logistics — Data Matrix codes for serial numbers or part IDs
Five steps from Excel to ZIP
- Prepare your spreadsheet. Row 1 must be headers. Include a
typecolumn. See the format table below. - Open Batch QR and switch to the Excel / CSV tab.
- Upload your file (.xlsx, .xls, .csv, or .ods). A preview table confirms your data loaded correctly.
- Set size, colors, logo, and labels — these apply to every code in the batch.
- Click Generate Batch, review all codes in the popup, then click Download ZIP.
Not sure about column names? Download the Excel template (.xlsx) — includes sample rows for all 10 types plus an Instructions sheet.
Excel column format
Each data row (row 2 onward) produces one QR code. The type column tells the generator which fields to read. Optional column label sets the display name in the preview and helps name files in the ZIP.
| type | Required columns | Example row |
|---|---|---|
url | url or content | https://example.com/product/42 |
text | text or content | SAVE20 at checkout |
phone | phone | +15551234567 |
sms | phone, message | +15551234567, Book a table |
email | email, subject, body | hello@shop.com, Order inquiry, … |
whatsapp | number, message (optional) | 8613812345678, Hi I need help |
wifi | ssid, password, security | GuestWiFi, welcome123, WPA |
vcard | name, phone or email, optional org, title | Jane Doe, +1…, jane@co.com |
location | lat, lng, optional label | 37.7749, -122.4194, HQ |
dm | content or text | SKU-2026-A001 (Data Matrix) |
Header names are flexible: url, link, and content all work for URLs; gps is accepted as an alias for location. If your file has no header row and column A is a list of URLs, the tool treats each value as a URL automatically.
Mixing types in one file
This is the main advantage over a plain URL list tool. Row 2 might be a product link, row 3 a guest WiFi network, row 4 a sales contact vCard:
type | label | url | ssid | password | name url | Product A | https://shop.com/a | | | wifi | Room 101 | | Room101 | stay2026 | vcard | Front desk | | | | Hotel Desk
Only fill the columns relevant to each type. Empty cells are ignored.
Alternative: paste a list
If you only need one type — say, 50 product URLs — use the Paste list tab instead of Excel. Pick the default type from the dropdown, paste one value per line, and generate. For mixed types without a spreadsheet, use tab-separated lines:
wifi GuestNetwork welcome123 WPA url https://example.com/promo vcard John Doe +15551234567 john@example.com
Separate fields with a tab or pipe (|). The first field must be a valid type name.
Logo, colors, and labels
Batch settings apply uniformly to every code in the run:
- Size — 300px is fine for screen; use 400–500px for print
- Colors — keep dark modules on a light background for reliable scanning
- Logo — one logo is centered on all codes (keep it small, under 20% of the QR area)
- Top / bottom labels — shared text such as “SCAN ME” or your brand URL
Per-row labels come from the Excel label column and appear under each code in the preview grid.
Preview before download
After generation, a popup shows every QR code with its type badge and label. Scroll through to spot empty rows, wrong URLs, or typos in WiFi passwords before you print. Click Download ZIP only when you are satisfied. PNG files inside the ZIP are named from each row’s label (sanitized for filesystem safety).
Privacy and security
Your spreadsheet never leaves your device. Parsing, QR rendering, and ZIP creation all happen locally in the browser — the same approach as our single QR generator. That matters when your Excel contains WiFi passwords, employee phone numbers, or customer contact data.
WiFi QR images are effectively password cards. Store the ZIP securely and do not publish guest-network codes on public channels.
Tips for reliable scans
- Test one code from the batch on both iPhone and Android before mass printing
- Use full URLs with
https://— the generator adds it if missing - For WhatsApp rows, enter digits only with country code (no + or spaces)
- Keep vCard names and WiFi SSIDs under 40 characters when possible — shorter payloads scan faster
- Data Matrix (
dm) is ideal for small labels; standard QR works better for URLs scanned from a distance
FAQ
How many codes per batch?
Up to 100. Split larger jobs into multiple files and ZIP downloads.
Can I use Google Sheets?
Yes. Export as .xlsx or .csv from File → Download, then upload here.
What if a row fails?
Generation stops and shows the row number and error (e.g. missing phone on an SMS row). Fix that row in Excel and try again.
Are these dynamic QR codes?
No — each image is a static code. The data is encoded directly in the PNG. If you change a URL later, you must regenerate and reprint. See our static vs dynamic guide for details.
